A New York State Police statement says that the body of the 61-year-old actor, who was in hit TV shows like "ER," "Law & Order," and "Ray Donovan," was found in the St. Lawrence River around 10 a.m. Sunday by officers who were called about a possible drowning.
"When troopers and Cape Vincent Fire and Ambulance got to the scene, they found a dead woman in the St. Lawrence River," the statement said.
Mary Mara, an actress who played parts on "ER" and "Ray Donovan," has died, according to a statement from her manager, Craig Dorfman, to CNN. She turned 61.
Dorfman said that Mary was one of the best actresses he had ever met. "I can still remember seeing her in "Mad Forest" off-Broadway in 1992. She was exciting, funny, and her own person. They all liked her. We'll miss her."
A press release from the New York State Police says that officers were called to a "possible drowning" at 8:10 a.m. local time on Sunday. The release said that when troopers and Cape Vincent Fire and Ambulance got to the scene, they found the body of a woman in the St. Lawrence River.
"From what we know so far, the victim probably drowned while swimming," police said.
In their statement, the police also said that there were no signs of wrongdoing. Police say that an autopsy will be done by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office to find out the official cause of death.
Mara worked in both movies and TV shows. She had recurring roles on shows like "Dexter," "The Practice," and "Star Trek: Enterprise" for more than one episode. Her roles on "Nash Bridges," "ER," and "Ray Donovan" may have made her the most well-known.
"Mr. Saturday Night" and "Love Potion #9" were two movies that Mara was in. Her last movie was "Break Even," which comes out in 2020.

The release said that the victim was 61-year-old Mary T. Mara from Cape Vincent, NY. State police said that based on what they knew so far, Mara probably drowned while swimming.
State police also said that there were no signs of foul play on Mara's body, which was taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. In a statement to CBS News, Craig Dorfman, Mara's manager, said that she had died.
